The Earl of March has always loved fast cars – and born on a large country estate blessed with a race track, aerodrome and acres of parkland / fields means you can create something really special to do with your interests! Well Charles March has certainly done that over the last few decades!

It all started with the Festival of Speed which is held over a long weekend in June annually. It has grown into a huge motorsport event with the backdrop of Goodwood House.

Each year a spectacular sculpture is created on the lawn in front of the House – and it is avidly looked forward to and talked about!

FOS is a mecca for car enthusiasts of all sorts – but especially those who want to see the most up-to-date cars, manufacturers, racing drivers, incl Grand Prix ones – they and many others take part in the hill climb. This track goes from the parkland, round in front of the house and then up the side along a narrow lane to the hill at the top. Its fast and furious!

In addition to the “on-track” action with the cars and bikes (if there is an interruption to racing then the stunt cars and drivers come out to entertain the crowds) there are all the stands for the main car exhibitors and associated trades. A wide range of stalls, experiences and attractions are on offer for young and old, petrol-head and those who want to shop!

Words of warning: – If it’s a wet year – BRING WELLIES as despite tons of woodchip, laid car access bridges etc it’s muddy!

If you wish to stay please book well in advance – sometimes up to a year!

Have a great time at the Festival of Speed  – it is a unique event in the motorsport calendar!
